What is CBD Oil

CBD is the abbreviation for cannabidiol and is a non-psychoactive substance found in the hemp plant. It does not make you high or stoned! Research shows that CBD, in pure form or as an extract of hemp leaf and flower, may have a number of effects on symptoms in various conditions.

Several clinical studies came up with positive results for anxiety, psychosis, Parkinson’s, Epilepsy, schizophrenia and depression. Also, studies show that CBD has anti-inflammatory effects and exhibits a broad spectrum of pain-reducing properties.

In addition to the various studies, people’s experiences give us even more information about how CBD oil works. Below are pains and / or complaints from customers of ours who benefit from PUUR CBD oil:

  • Rheumatic complaints
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Arthrosis
  • Headaches
  • Skin complaints
  • Eczema
  • Psoriasis
  • Sleep problems

Why does our body respond to CBD?

Our bodies contain what is known as the endocannabinoid system. This system consists of receptors, the body’s own cannabinoids (endocannabinoids) and enzymes that make and break down these substances. Receptors are large, complex molecules found in the cell wall of our bodies. Certain substances can interact with these receptors.

It’s like a key and lock: if the substance fits well into the complex structure of the receptor, then a reaction can be initiated. In summary, the endocannabinoid system has several roles that have a strong influence on our sense of well-being, namely: reducing pain, controlling movement, relaxing, eating, forgetting, sleeping and protecting the nervous system.

Because CBD has an effect on our endocannabinoid system, it offers the ability to help fulfill or restore 1 or more of these roles. For example, when there is a receptor deficiency or insufficient production of endocannabinoids.

The hemp paste is extracted from the leaves and flowers of the fiber hemp plant with a supercritical CO2 extraction. CO2 extraction consists of two simplified steps.

At step 1, liquid CO2 is added to the hemp leaves and flowers where the liquid CO2 extracts the hemp extract. Then in step 2, the liquid CO2 is converted into gaseous and then stripped from the hemp extract again. What remains is a “hemp paste” that contains a certain percentage of CBD. This percentage depends on the yield per batch because not every hemp plant contains the same amount of CBD for sleep UK. This can be compared to the sugar content of a sugar beet. The great advantage of CO2 extraction is that it is environmentally friendly and chemically inert, and it leaves no harmful substances behind in the extract. This method is also used for the extraction of caffeine from coffee beans and the extraction of hops.

Besides CBD, the hemp plant contains over five hundred different components. By full spectrum is meant the complete number of substances. Examples of other substances besides cannabinoids that may be present in the hemp plant are terpenes, chlorophyll and flavonoids.

PUUR CBD’s full spectrum oils contain both CBD and CBDa and are made with hemp extracts made with supercritical CO2 extraction. CO2 extraction is a method to extract substances from organic substances, without the need for harmful substances or heating.

To preserve all substances as much as possible, almost no heating may take place. By heating, substances such as terpenes are lost, and that’s a shame because these natural flavors and fragrances have their own beneficial effects.

CBD Oils from PUUR CBD are therefore not decarboxylated. Decarboxylation is the heating of the oil so that the CBDa is converted to CBD, so the disadvantage of this is that the CBDa and many other substances are destroyed while they have their own effect. Another disadvantage of decarboxylation is that the non-psychotic substance THCa is converted to THC. Since in the Netherlands the THC must be below 0.05% this is a disadvantage.

We also have the so-called “entourage effect” introduced by Israeli scientists Shimon Ben-Shabat and Raphael Mechoulam. Each hemp plant has its own “profile,” with different percentages and ratios of cannabinoids, terpenes and other substances. Apart from the fact that these substances have their own beneficial effects, there is a synergy: the substances can influence or even reinforce each other’s effects. This is mainly the reason why a full spectrum oil is preferred over just CBD.
